Vice President of Research and Development – Beijing Facility

Aviva Systems Biology (www.avivasysbio.com) is a leading antibody company with production facilities in Beijing and a headquarter office in San Diego focused on sales, marketing, distribution and management.  The company was formed in 2001 based on a strategy of high throughput production and currently has a collection 26,000 commercially available antibodies and 16,000 antigens.  The product collection covers over 8,000 unique targets.

The company is now seeking to expand our monoclonal antibody, antibody validation, protein expression, and assay development efforts to further capture significant market share in the life science industry.  To accomplish these goals, we seek a highly driven and capable scientist to establish extremely relevant production platforms.  The person shall have a minimum of 10 years experience producing monoclonal antibodies, with significant experience implementing new platforms.  This position will be responsible to manage Aviva’s facility in Beijing, China.

Additional Requirements:

  • Fluent in Chinese;
  • Management experience and experience in leading development and/or manufacturing activities;
  • Must be highly motivated, have excellent organizational and communication skills, and must be able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Knowledge of the design, optimization and scale-up methods for monoclonal, protein, and peptide synthesis;
  • Direct experience with bacterial expression systems. Mammalian expression experience is a plus;
  • Hands-on experience with antibody validation and assay development techniques;
  • Ability to address a wide range of proteomic applications which include immunoblot, ELISA, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, cytochemistry, FLOW, array, and/or multiplex assays;
